Dill is an annual of the parsley family and is related to Anise, Caraway, Coriander, Cumin, and Fennel. Dill Weed is the dried leaves of the herb Anethum graveolens, the same plant from which Dill Seed is derived. Dill Weed comes from the Norwegian word "dilla", meaning to soothe.
Use in salads, pickling, sauces, vinegars, vegetables, eggs, soups and potatoes. Pairs nicely with lemon. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) is equivalent to 1 tbsp (15 mL) fresh chopped dill weed.
