Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
North African-inspired Harissa seasoning takes these chocolate cupcakes over the top. They’re spicy, chocolatey, and decorated with a beautiful, bold red Harissa Cupcake Icing.
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a large bowl, combine egg, yogurt, milk, vanilla extract and oil.
In a medium bowl whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and seasoning. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until combined. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
Divide batter among 24 paper-lined muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake for 23 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
This recipe was on target. I was hesitant at first, but figured I would try it. I have celiac disease so I could not eat it myself. So I put the family of guinea pigs to work. To my surprise they said it was amazing and we’re surprised at the pleasant mix of sweet and spicy. They reccomend it for taste.

I'm not a huge fan of spicy foods, especially spicy sweet foods, but my husband loves all things hot and spicy. I made these for him as a little pre-birthday treat and he absolutely loved them! The recipe was easy to follow and the only change I made was using gluten free flour. Even my picky son liked these. He's just started experimenting with hotter foods. I did receive the harissa complimentary from Influenster and Hello Flavour.

This was a very strange combination of spicy and sweet. The recipe was pretty good. I wouldn't be able to eat more than one of these cupcakes but it was definitely something interesting to prepare compared to the traditional cupcake. I got my ingredients free from Influenser & Hello flavour and I'm greatful for the opportunity to learn to bake something out of the ordinary.

Although I was skeptical mixing spicy with sweet, The recipe was absolutely delicious. Nice simple twist on a traditional chocolate cupcake. Received a complimentary sample for testing purposes. Thanks Hello Flavour and Influenster.

I give this recipe an A for creativity but it otherwise missed the mark. Instructions were clear enough but the flavour was strange to say the least. I tried a bit of the spice separately and liked it so now I’m wishing I saved it for a savoury meal. I recieved the harrisa free for testing purposes from Influenster

Woah! I have always loved baking but it never crossed my mind to make harrisa chocolate cupcakes. I found the harrisa icing had a very sweet mildly spicy taste. The chocolate cupcake complimented the icing making it not to sweet or spicy. A very interesting flavour left on my palate. I received this product for free or complimentary for testing purposes.

These were surprisingly amazing! I was shook. I really thought they would be strange although I’ve heard of adding spice to chocolate cake. I will definitely be making these again, my family loved these!! I received this product complimentary for testing purposes

This recipe is a perfect twist on the usual cupcake recipes. Absolutely delicious!

My experience was horrible. We use Harissa with meat or other traditional food in my Family as Harissa is our Maghrebian spice but not with cake. I said maybe it a good Idea to use it with cake but hell no. My husband and kids none of them ate that night. Maybe some would love it but not me and my family but we love Harissa but not this recipe.

I had no idea about this spice before, it’s really a great add to this recipe, loved the flavor. I received this spice for free for testing purposes.

While the cupcakes turned out nice and moist, I found the flavours to be slightly off putting. I received the harissa complimentary from Influenster.

Wow, this recipe was the bomb! I’ve heard about adding a spicy kick to chocolate before but this really proved it. The chilli flavour was just enough and didn’t overbear the rich chocolate taste. I made these for a party and it was a great conversation starter. Would be great to make these cupcakes again for Valentine’s Day.

I don’t have to be asked twice to bake chocolate cupcakes. The harissa gave the cupcakes a kick and they were delicious. I can’t wait to bake these again. I was lucky enough to get to try the harissa free from Influenster. #gotitfree

I had no idea what harissa was before influenster sent me these complimentary spices. I tried out this recipe and loved it! The kick from the harissa goes so well with these cupcakes! It’s amazing

Got the Harissa for free from Influenster and I made this chocolate cup cakes! So tasty and this spice goes well with chocolate for a cold winter day! Thanks to #influenster and #helloflavour

Had no idea what to do with the harissa I got for free through Influenster so I decided to make these cupcakes! So yummy and delicious on these cold winter days! Love the harissa and chocolate, they pair so well together. I will be making these again very soon! #helloflavour #influenster

These were surprisingly incredible!! I’ve never cooked with harissa spice before, and so I was understandably nervous about making cupcakes with it, but they were to die for- 10/10 would make again.

This recipe was very intriguing to me and once I received the Harissa Seasoning Complimentary from Influenster I knew I wanted to try this since it combines two of my favorite things chocolate and spice/chili peppers. It was even better than I had anticipated and it was a hit with my kids as well! I’ll be purchasing more of the seasoning and making this recipe again soon!

These cupcakes were pretty easy to make, and I am not really a baker. They made quite a large batch and I discovered they were better after being in the fridge rather than fresh out of the oven. My issue was that they turned out rather dry, I prefer a much more moist cupcake. I received the Harissa spice free through Influenster.

We received the spices free and used them for this recipe. They were easy to make. No harder than any other cupcake. I liked the hint of spice, but I am a fan of chocolate and chili. My kiddos, not so much. They werent impressed. I love the spice with other dishes, just not this one.

I think this is a tough one for me. I love baking, but perhaps I'm more traditional. These were good, but I'm not sure I loved the Harissa flavour. I will keep Harissa to meal time vs baked goods. Worth a try if you are feeling adventurous!
Sheri Chesebrough | January 24, 2019
To be honest I am a box cupcake type of person! I was overwhelmed with the idea of making from scratch but this recipe was so simple! I was worried that the harissa would overpower the sweetness but that wasn’t the case at all. Even my picky toddler enjoyed these! Thanks Hello Flavour and Influenster for sending me the spices to play with!
LESley billingsley | January 24, 2019
We were a bunch of friends and none of us liked the icing. We felt like it was a really weird combination with the chocolate cake.
Melissa | January 23, 2019
I received this product complimentary from Influenster. I personally was never a fan of harissa but these cupcakes were a hit at a recent party! Everyone was so surprised with the flavor. I’m going to try harissa spice with other baked goods too
